The Wetland

The Wetland

The Wetland is an area at the bottom of Rufford Abbey Country Park and currently has no public access. It is host to a whole variety of wildlife.

The site is made up of a variety of habitats including; young woodland, a wild-flower island, willow coppice, marginal reed, dead hedges and a scattering of
mature trees.

It's upkeep is imperative to the wildlife so volunteer groups such as Wild Sherwood, North Notts College and our own Conservation Volunteers work on it throughout the year.

Lately the hide has been repainted, a pond dipping platform has been repaired and a new central pathway has been laid.

Future plans are to build a bridge creating a circular walk, dig out a new inlet, keep on maintaining it and to hold more events such as pond dipping.
